Be victorious, Raam, the dear one of Ramaa and absolver of earth. Protect the men on earth who are aggrieved by the cycle of rebirth. O Ram, Who is the Lord of Ayodhya, Ramaa, demi-gods, Who is resplendent, Who is the Lord of everyone! We are seeking refuge in you.||1||
You are the destroyer of ten-heads and twenty-hands of Ravana, and in the process You expunged the immense and dense grief on the earth. The group of demons were like insects and got destroyed in the huge-fire like arrows of Yours.||2||
You are the ornation of the earth and the celestial system; You appear more beautiful with an arrow, a quiver, and a bow in hand. For the night-like rage, attachment, passion, and great affection, You are like the house of resplendence; You expurgate the hordes of darkness like the Sun.||3||
The hunter-like-lust has destroyed the mind; and the deer-like persons have given shelter to bad sensuality in the heart. O Hari! The persons stricken by lust in this manner are orphans and You please protect them, who are lost in the worldly matters and have forgotten their own self.||4||
People are lost in all worldly diseases and separation, because they have neglected the [lotus]-feet of Yours. Those who don't love Your lotus-feet never cross this mundane existence of cycle of life-and-death.||5||
Those who don't have the affection for Your lotus-feet are very bereaved, malicious and aggrieved in an endless manner. Those sages who endear the supportive and absolving story of Yours, automatically acquire the benevolence of Yours.||6||
The sages who don't respond to sensual objects, like color, greed, pride and intoxication; and find themselves in equal bliss during splendor or calamity are close to You. The saints who destroy their faith in Yoga and take sainthood to serve You become happy and blissful¹.||7||
The saints who loves You continuously with respect, purify their heart with devotion for Your lotus-feet, and treat disrespect and respect equally, wander trouble-free and blissful on this earth (essentially be dispassionate for everything except Ram).||8||
I sing praises of Ram, Who is the bumble-bee for the lotus-like mind of sages, Who is known as Raghuvir, Who is immense in battle, and Who is undefeated. I sing Your names and I bow to You, O Hari, Who is like the extra-ordinary medicine for the disease like cycle of rebirth and Who is the destroyer of pride.||9||
I continuously bow to Ram, Who is the best abode of qualities, serenity and mercy, and Who is the consort of Lakshmi. O Raghunand! Expunge the tussle-cloud situated inside (me). O Protector of the earth! Cast your glance on this pitied servant of Yours.||10||
¹The poet is propagating the Bhakti-Yoga here. He is saying that with devotion to Your sagu.na form, we can attain bliss; the Yogis who try to attain knowledge by following the nirgu.na path miss this bliss.
